The Candidate

“Nothing matters more than winning. Not even what you believe in.” This is the tagline of “The Candidate,” a 1972 film starring Robert Redford and Peter Boyle (“Everybody Loves Raymond“). The premise: take a good looking, charismatic ‘everyman’ and put him up for office. Make him a talking head with ideas from behind the scenes and get him elected. What you have is the perfect puppet senator who has the ability to sell the agenda of the political machine. Or do you? You must see this movie before the election. I’m sure you’ll see some similarities to the current crop of candidates, no matter what your political persuasion. It makes you really think about what is important is the leadership of our country. But most of all – remember to VOTE. It is the greatest privilege and responsibility of a free society.
